#i don’t think it occured to me before this episode that it’s entirely possible that rory has known amy longer than the doctor has. can’t you see it? amy coming to leadworth, impossibly scottish and red haired and all alone after her parents have died, and she goes to school and she’s so nervous and on her first day there’s little rory williams, and he sees her and trips over himself because’s he’s never seen anyone so fascinating. and everyone else thinks she’s bizarre and weird except rory - who can’t get enough of mad impossible amy pond, who reads a million picture books about scotland just so he has something to talk to her about and they run around leadworth together chasing ducks and tipping over the ice cream stand and having the time of their lives and compared to that friendship amy’s life before that had just been incredibly grey. and even before the doctor comes she tells rory about the crack in her wall and the whispering and he thinks it’s just a game but he believes her anyway because he’s RORY and he loves her already and then the doctor barges in and throws her life upside down and he builds up this hope in amy, who sees someone big and brave and someone who can protect her like a parent can, and then he leaves and he breaks her heart and CAN’T YOU JUST SEE HER? little amy pond, running up to little rory williams, bawling her eyes out: ‘he didn’t come back, rory… he said he’d come and get me but he never came back…’ and right then and there eight year old rory makes a decision to always come back for amy, to never ever leave her. and then amy is sadder than ever and then rory says to her WHY DO WE PLAY ‘AMY AND THE RAGGEDY DOCTOR?’ and he just makes this game out of it and they’re running around leadworth and they cut up rory’s old clothes and his mother is FURIOUS but it doesn’t matter because amy is smiling again, and they use a branch as the sonic screwdriver and they build TARDISes out of cardboard boxes they find and even though her aunt takes her to shrinks and they make amy feel like she’s crazy she’s got rory, one person who believes in her and then as she’s growing up and becoming her own person outside of her relationship with rory and her meeting with the doctor, and she starts to ~date and she makes other friends and she slowly but surely becomes sassy foxy amy and then she gets to the point where she realises she doesn’t WANT anyone but rory and they get together and IT’S A BEAUTIFUL THING and then the doctor comes back and rory takes it into his stride so quickly, because deep down he’s always believed amy and then suddenly here’s the raggedy doctor in the flesh and just like amy, who was an ~outsider, fascinated him years ago, the doctor and his life engrosses rory again and he educates himself about black holes and space and shit and i just - rory waiting for amy is just so HIM, as opposed to the doctor, who is impatient and who can’t sit still and who is horrified by the thought of experiencing time in a straight line, rory waits it out, and rory stays there with amy because that’s what he’s always done and he doesn’t know any other way. there’s amy without the doctor and amy when she’s around the doctor and it’s like two different people but rory loves her completely, and it’s only when the doctor is around that he starts to doubt himself because, well, it’s the DOCTOR and it’s like an elephant comparing themselves to babar or some shit and it’s slowly dawning on rory that amy depends on him right back, and that she knows that doctor is always going to be the variable and rory is the constant. he’s her constant.

THIS IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL POST ON TUMBLR

eclecticmuses:

Does Rory die much this year?

Oh, in every episode! A big death. We’re trying to make it bigger and bigger each time. I eat a load of explosives at one point, and the Doctor has to pick up my parts from around time and space…

OH MY GOD YOU MAGNIFICENT TROLL. I LOVE YOU.

What is Amy and Rory’s relationship like behind closed doors?

“Behind closed doors, there’s more of an equal thing going on, but .. she’s kind of kickass, isn’t she? She can do all that and Rory can just watch in awe. But there are a few moments where Rory gets to prove himself and I think that impresses her, so Rory finally gets to impress the girl that’s married him, which is good. It is a funny relationship, but I think it’s a good relationship – they’ve known each other for so long and been through so much together, and they really do love each other. And it’s a different relationship than Amy has with The Doctor – and Rory knows that he could never be that to her. But he can be her husband.
